    Abstract

One of the key issues, especially for the European investment casting industry, is to increase quality and efficiency. Wax patterns are the first step in the investment casting process and it is essential that the highest quality patterns be produced, as this is crucial to the later processing steps such as shelling and casting itself. Any variations introduced in wax pattern production cannot be compensated in the following process steps.
Therefore a detailed investigation on this topic has been carried out and the results are given in this presentation. Special attention has been given to the influence of the melt temperature, holding pressure and certain points relating to the mould design.
